![]() School ProgramChild ID was started approximately 6 years ago by the Kiwanis Club of Durango and funded by the Durango-La Plata CrimeStoppers for the past 2 years. The program photographs and fingerprints second and third grade children. That information along with other information is placed in a visa type booklet and given to the childs parent(s). Should something happen to that child, the parents can give the information in the booklet to Law Enforcement to help identify the child, should the child become lost, or worse. From its beginning, over 2,000 second and third grade children have participated in the Child ID program. In FY 2009-2010 over 1,000 kids have been photographed and fingerprinted. The program is provided free of charge. When to Call
If you aren't sure that what you saw or heard is really a crime, call anyway. Let the police decide if it's worth investigating. It may be a piece of a clue to a big crime.
